Care requirements

Provide a spacious, secure enclosure with robust perches, room to move and opportunities for supervised exercise. Rotate bird-safe chew toys and foraging activities to support this species' strong chewing instincts and intelligence. Umbrella Cockatoos need substantial daily social interaction, predictable routines and regular avian veterinary care. Plan for loud calls, feather dust, behavioral needs and a potential lifespan of many decades; responsible ownership is a long-term commitment.

Diet

Offer a balanced diet built around formulated parrot pellets and a variety of suitable fresh vegetables, with fruit, nuts and seeds in appropriate limited portions. Consult an avian veterinarian about individual nutritional needs, and provide clean water daily. Avoid avocado, chocolate, alcohol and caffeine.
