Meet Kiwi, a one-year-old female Blue-Fronted Amazon Parrot. Her photographs show vivid green plumage with fine dark feather edging, a soft blue forehead blending into a bright yellow face and crown, warm orange eyes, a dark grey beak, and golden-yellow shoulders touched with red, with flashes of red and blue in the wings. Her sex is seller-supplied; photographs alone do not confirm it. Blue-Fronted Amazons are intelligent, social parrots known for their capacity for vocal learning and their need for daily mental stimulation. Individual speech, temperament and handling preferences vary and are not established by these photos. Some gallery images also show another Amazon in the same enclosure — only Kiwi is included in this listing.

Care requirements

Provide a spacious, secure enclosure with varied bird-safe perches and room to climb, chew and forage. Rotate toys and puzzles, offer daily interaction and supervised time out of the enclosure, and allow predictable rest. Blue-Fronted Amazons can be loud and may live for many decades. Arrange regular avian veterinary care. Kiwi’s hatch date, health records, temperament and training have not been verified; contact us for available records.

Diet

Offer a balanced diet of quality formulated parrot food, varied fresh vegetables and limited fruit, guided by an avian veterinarian. Avoid all-seed diets and excessive high-fat treats, as Amazons can gain weight easily. Provide fresh water daily. Never offer avocado, chocolate, caffeine or alcohol.
